The New Kid

So tomorrow I am going to drive in to school for the first time, and park in the junior parking lot. Obviously, this is the parking lot waaay behind the middle school that's really a big flat space filled with tiny rocks (= no official parking spaces). One of my friends (codename Aries) who gets a ride in to school with a fellow junior warned me that everyone is really possessive about their "spots". I put that in parenthesis because there are no white or yellow lines to mark where to park. Aries told me not to park anywhere along the tennis court fences and to say clear of parking close to the middle school- they are already taken, and their usual possessors will be angry. Once the junior who she gets a ride in with warned he'd key any one's car found in his space. Yup. And then the dean that signed my permission slip advised that I might want to be careful, because everyone parks really close together: there are a heck of a lot of juniors with cars in a relatively small space.

I have been warned, and frankly, I'm a little nervous. Where the heck do I park and what if I take someone else's space? Aren't we too old to quibble over these things- like we used to do when a new kid sat in our seat in elementary school when there weren't actual assigned seats? I have decided to park in the farthest corner from the middle school/tennis court corner of the lot, and hope for the best. At least I'll be close to the road to get out, right?

Well, here's to tomorrow!
